Getting Started
What does Roundly do?

Roundly automatically converts the prices on your Shopify storefront into each visitor's local currency — based on their location — the moment they land on your store.

It does three things:

  • Auto-detects visitor location by IP address and shows prices in their local currency
  • Smart price rounding so converted prices look clean (e.g. €19.99 not €19.87)
  • Currency switcher widget so visitors can manually choose their preferred currency
How do I install Roundly on my Shopify store?

Find Roundly on the Shopify App Store and click Install. After approving the permissions, you'll land in the Roundly dashboard inside your Shopify Admin.

The setup guide walks you through three steps:

  • Set your store's default currency
  • Enable the currencies you want to display
  • Turn on the storefront widget via Shopify's theme editor

Most stores are live in under 5 minutes — no coding required.

Does Roundly require any code changes to my theme?

No. Roundly uses Shopify's Theme App Extension system, which means you enable it with a single toggle in your Shopify theme editor — no liquid file editing, no developer needed.

Currency Conversion
Does Roundly change the actual checkout currency?

No. Roundly is a display-only currency converter. It shows converted prices on your storefront so shoppers can see what they'll pay in their own currency — but the actual checkout currency is still controlled by your Shopify Payments / Shopify Markets setup.

If you need real multi-currency checkout, you'll need Shopify Markets (available on Shopify's standard plans). Roundly complements this by handling the storefront price display and the currency switcher widget.
How often are exchange rates updated?

Exchange rates are refreshed once per day, automatically. We fetch rates from Fixer.io, a reliable financial data provider used by thousands of applications.

Rates are applied to all storefronts using Roundly and require no action from you.

Which currencies are supported?

Roundly supports 50+ currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, JPY, INR, AED, SGD, CHF, and many more. You can enable or disable any currency from the Currency Settings page in your Roundly dashboard.

The number of currencies you can enable at once depends on your plan (see Pricing below).

What are rounding rules and how do I configure them?

When a price is converted between currencies, the result is often an awkward number like €19.87. Rounding rules let you clean this up automatically — for example, rounding to the nearest .99 (→ €19.99) or the nearest whole number (→ €20).

You can set a different rounding rule per currency from the Currency Settings page. Available options include: Nearest .99, Nearest .95, Nearest .50, Nearest whole, and No rounding.

Geolocation & Visitor Detection
How does Roundly detect a visitor's currency?

When a visitor lands on your storefront, Roundly reads their IP address server-side and maps it to a country using the IP2Location Lite database, which runs entirely on our own servers — no data is sent to any third party.

The country code is then used to select the appropriate currency (either the currency you mapped to that country in Geolocation Rules, or the default for that region). The raw IP address is never stored.

What are Geolocation Rules?

Geolocation Rules let you manually assign a specific currency to any country. For example, you can set all visitors from the United Kingdom to always see GBP, or all visitors from Japan to always see JPY — regardless of what currency they had previously selected.

You can manage these rules from the Geolocation Rules page in your Roundly dashboard.

Geolocation Rules are available on the Pro plan and above.
Can visitors switch currency manually?

Yes. The Roundly widget includes a manual currency switcher that lets shoppers pick their preferred currency from a dropdown at any time. Their selection is remembered for the duration of their session.

You can enable or disable the manual switcher separately from auto-detection in the Appearance settings.

Widget & Appearance
Can I customize how the widget looks?

Yes. From the Appearance page you can configure:

  • Position — Top left, Top right, Bottom left, or Bottom right
  • Color — White, Black, or a custom hex color
  • Shape — Round or Square icon button

A live preview updates instantly as you make changes, so you can see exactly how the widget will look on your storefront before saving.

Custom widget position and styling are available on the Pro plan and above.
Will the widget slow down my store?

No. The Roundly widget is a lightweight JavaScript file (under 10 KB) loaded as a Shopify Theme App Extension. It runs asynchronously and does not block your page from loading.

Currency rates are fetched from our own server via Shopify's App Proxy, which is cached and highly performant.

Support
The widget isn't showing on my storefront. What do I do?

Check these things in order:

  • App embed is enabled — Go to your Shopify Admin → Online Store → Themes → Customize → App Embeds and make sure the Roundly toggle is turned on.
  • At least one currency is enabled — The widget only appears when you have at least one currency enabled in Currency Settings.
  • The app is active — Check the setup checklist on your Roundly dashboard — all three steps should show a green "Done" badge.

If everything looks correct and the widget still isn't showing, email us at devsheb019@gmail.com with your store URL and we'll investigate.

How do I contact support?

Email us at devsheb019@gmail.com. We aim to respond within 1–2 business days (Pro plan merchants get priority responses).

How do I uninstall Roundly?

Uninstall from your Shopify Admin under Settings → Apps → Roundly → Delete. This immediately removes the widget from your storefront and cancels any active subscription.

Your shop data is retained for 48 hours in case you reinstall, then automatically deleted when Shopify sends the shop/redact GDPR webhook.
